Bedminster beaver inspires bid for Christmas number one

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Dec 12, 2023

A comedy musical duo from Bristol is hoping to get to Christmas number one this year with a song which celebrates the rewilding movement.

Bring Back the Beaver by the Funny Terns hopes to spread as much joy as it drops double entendres, with the theme partly inspired by the appearance of a beaver by Bedminster Bridge back in April.

The video for the song was made by UWE Bristol media production student Chi Huang.

The Funny Terns are husband and wife duo Natalie Fée and Angus Barr.

Fée is the founder of City to Sea, running campaigns to stop plastic pollution at source, and author of How to Save the World for Free and Do Good, Get Paid; while Barr is a songwriter, actor and theatre director whose productions include Discombobulated, The Dept. of Smelling Pistakes and We Are Brontë.

Listen to Bring Back the Beaver on Spotify:

Fée said: “We felt that nature deserved to have the number one spot this year, and wanted to celebrate the return of the beaver to England’s rivers with a very British comic song.

We’re excited to release it this Christmas and share some good tidings, while at the same time raising awareness and support for our cause.”
