New Film Releases: February 16-22 2018

Marvel’s ground-breaking Black Panther is grabbing all the headlines this week. There are also two big new awards contenders: Oscar/BAFTA frontrunner The Shape of Water (go here for our review) and Greta Gerwig’s highly praised directorial debut, Lady Bird (go here for our review).

The BAFTA ceremony takes place on Sunday and judging by all the extra screenings of Darkest Hour and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri that cinemas have been booking in from Monday onwards, they’re pretty confident about which films are going to win big.

Elsewhere, the NT’s live broadcast of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is set to become one of the biggest event cinema hits of the year, Bristol Film Festival screens Groundhog Day in Averys’ wine cellar, and horror enthusiasts should on no account miss this year’s Women in Horror short film celebration.

As usual, follow the links for screening details and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
