Bristol teenager shortlisted for film music award
Congratulations to 16-year-old James Everingham of Westbury-on-Trym, who’s one of seven teenagers shortlisted in Bath Film Festival’s innovative FilmScore contest – the first of its kind ever held in the UK. In a bid to find the film music composers of tomorrow, entrants were challenged to create a new score for their choice from a menu of a dozen short films. More than 100 teenagers submitted entries and now the finalists will compete in front of a celebrity judging panel for a prize pot totalling £1,750.
BBC Points West reporter and Radio Bristol presenter Ali Vowles hosts this grand final at Komedia in Bath on March 26. The judges are Emmy and Brit nominated composer & singer/songwriter Sarah Class; Kelvin Swaby (pictured), lead singer of indie rock band The Heavy; Dickon Hinchliffe, composer of the score for Winter’s Bone; and Gary Yershon, who was nominated for a 2015 music Oscar for Mike Leigh’s Mr. Turner.
Tickets for FilmScore grand final are £7.50 (£5 concessions and under 20s), available here, at the Bath Festivals Ticket Office (01225 463 362), or on the door on the night at Komedia, Westgate Street, Bath.
