Not just any old batman, The Batman continued to dominate the UK box office over its second weekend on release. The rubbery superhero’s takings plunged by a rather large 45%, but Robert Pattinson’s iteration still took £7.4m – more than seven times as much as its nearest rival. No matter how loudly we may bellow “Permission denied!” the other big story from this week’s chart concerns the cumbersomely titled BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Seoul: Live Viewing. South Korean boy band BTS’s latest concert film claimed third place in the UK and already ranks as the most successful event cinema release of all time, with global takings of around £25m. Clinging on at the foot of the chart, Ken Branagh’s crowd-pleasing Belfast is the only BAFTA winner in the top ten.
