Back to the Future is back in the future
If you remember when Robert Zemeckis’s original Back to the Future came out, prepare to feel very old indeed. The biggest hit of 1985 celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Not only that, but October 21, 2015, is Back to the Future Day. That’s right: pay close attention during Back to the Future II and you’ll see that this is the very day on which Marty McFly arrives from the past, to find us all whizzing about on hoverboards and queuing for Jaws 19. Naturally, the film industry isn’t about to let this momentous occasion pass without a cash-in (Surely ‘a celebration’? – Ed).
On the big day, you can see Back to the Future II on its own at both Bristol Vue cinemas (Longwell Green and Cribbs Causeway). Real nerds will opt for the 16:29 screening at Cribbs, because that’s the exact time at which Marty showed up. Be sure to take a watch and demand a refund if it doesn’t start right on the dot, mind.
If you prefer to see the entire Back to the Future trilogy screened back-to-back, that’s on at Vue Cribbs and the Cineworld. Be warned, however, that you won’t get much change out of six hours.
Not fussed about the fanboy celebrations? Hot Tub Cinema are showing the original Back to the Future at Paintworks on Nov 3.
Oh, and as for Jaws 19, it never happened, more’s the pity. But Universal have produced a rather funny trailer for it anyway.
