Storysmith to host more in-house literary events

By Sarski Anderson  Thursday Aug 25, 2022

Storysmith have added to their schedule of upcoming in-house literary nights with Bristol-based Gemma Amor and Scottish poet and author Michael Pedersen.

The events follow the previously announced evening with Maggie O’Farrell, which will take place on September 22 at St Mary Redcliffe Church.

The bookshop, which was recently painted by @anthroe as part of Upfest, is run by Emily and Dan Ross, often joined by resident shop dog, Roy.

The pair have built up a loyal customer base and interact regularly with their readers to share lists of new releases and recommendations, as well as the authors who will be joining them in store to discuss their work.

Gemma Amor: Full Immersion

When Magpie discovers her own dead body one misty morning in Bristol, it prompts her to uncover the truth of her own untimely demise.

Amor is a Bram Stoker Award-nominated horror fiction author whose work blurs spectral, technological and temporal boundaries.

Accompanied by fellow horror writer V. Castro, she will be joining Storysmith to discuss Full Immersion on the launch day of the novel.

Michael Pedersen: Boy Friends

Pronounced “as perfect a portrait of friendship as I’ve ever read” by Stephen Fry, Boy Friends is a lyrical and intensely honest memoir of love, grief and the beauty of male friendship, in which Pedersen writes to the dear friend he has lost.

Chairing the evening discussion about the book is the Ted Hughes-award-winning poet, Hollie McNish, author of collections including Plum, Cherry Pie, Papers, and Slug.
