Art / Arena Photographers

Preview: Arena, Grant Bradley Gallery

By Steve Wright  Monday Oct 12, 2015

This month Bedminster’s Grant Bradley Gallery welcomes the veteran photographers’ collective Arena.

Arena was formed in 1986 in Newbury: the current membership still meets regularly in the area and encourages members to pursue different styles and approaches to their photography. Membership of Arena, which is by invitation only, consists of about 20 photographers. Several of these are members of The London Salon of Photography and/or hold distinctions of the Royal Photographic Society.

The original Arena philosophy, still applied today, is “to applaud those working at the frontier of photographic development, to search and discover themselves and find fulfilment, to communicate, to respect the work of others and to carry no passengers.”
