Exhibition of new work by Bristol artist Jessie Woodward to open at 17 Midland Road
Jessie Woodward is a Bristol-based mixed media artist best known for her vibrant abstract paintings. She has exhibited all over the country, and sold pieces worldwide.
Her latest collection Ways with Colour will be showing closer to home, at 17 Midland Road – in an exhibition opening on March 20.
The paintings showcase her characteristic treatment of colour and juxtaposition of different textures, as well as her practice of experimental mark-making. The effect is to convey a joyful energy to the viewer that is hard to resist.

As well as brushwork, I throw a lot of paint around, loosening my mark-making,” says Woodward.
“Splatting and dripping paint, holding pieces upside down and painting on the floor: these are all different techniques I use to continue that element of play and exploration.”
Alongside her paintings, the exhibition will present a new and unique lampshade collection, created in collaboration with Angela Hooton of Pindrop Soft Furnishings.
