Alcohol free immersive gathering celebrates the spring equinox at The Mount Without
A multidisciplinary art-led alcohol-free night celebrating the spring equinox will take place at The Mount Without on March 22.
Led by queer and neurodivergent artists Phöebe Hares aka MadStillNess, and Camilla Mason, Through the Looking Glass will feature light projection, live music and performance, as well as a dance off and a catwalk for best dressed.
Featured acts on the lineup include Soft Butch founder DJ Lexx, sound bowl electronica from Dunya, and immersive collaboration from Vince Ugly and Invisible Circus.
The idea for the project was born from the need to create sober spaces as alternatives to traditional nightlife.
“As audiences look for alternatives to alcohol-led socialising and are craving non-analogue ways of connecting, creatives are experimenting with new formats that sit somewhere between theatre, nightlife and communal ritual”, explains Hares.

“The project is Arts Council-supported in response to the drink and drug problems we have in Bristol. At a time when we feel so separated and segregated, our ethos is to bring together a cross-section of audiences to make sure everyone has a seat at the table.”
Through the Looking Glass will be produced in partnership with non-alcoholic drinks producers Sentia Spirits and Bristol’s first sober bar, The Arc.
