Hawkspring launches crowfunding bid

By Bristol24/7  Monday Aug 3, 2015

A drug and alcohol addiction service in Hartcliffe has launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to stay open.

Hawkspring announced it would have to shut its doors at the end of August due to a lack of funding.

The recovery drop-in has been struggling to make ends meet since it was excluded from the council’s last commissioning programme.

Despite the demand for services reaching a nine-year peak, Hawkspring has struggled to attract donations and grants to stay open.

They have now turned to crowdfunding in an attempt to raise £50,000.

“This much-needed centre is at the heart of saving lives and trying to build better communities,” said CEO Lorraine Bush.

“The closure of Hawkspring will have a devastating impact in Bristol and the local area.”

Using Bristol crowdfunding platform Fundsurfer, Hawkspring is asking for donations anywhere between £1-£1000.

Help Hawkspring by donating to the cause.
