Hear the new mixtape from Bristol MC Jay0117

By Thadeous Matthews  Saturday Dec 3, 2016

Potentially the hungriest, most active MC in Bristol today, Jay0117 continues his massive 2016 with new music after representing right across the local musical calendar. If you were in attendance at Sequences, Love Saves The Day or – most recently – Eskimo Dance Bristol you’ll know exactly what we mean.

It Is What It Is sees Jay at his strongest yet. Backed by a list of production giants, rising stars and his most trusted, it features guest appearances and production from Zeph Ellis, Dash Villz, Slowie, Dimpson, Ghostly and more.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“This mixtape is my first solo project,” says Jay, “that will turn a extremely average car journey into Back To The Future crossed with The Italian Job car chase. It’s called It Is What It Is because I feel everybody’s projects are too labelled (mixtape, EP, LP, album). This just “is what it is” #Shellz. I hope everyone enjoys it. Love to all the supporters, old and new. #Bristol2TheWorld #CheeseAndBread”

Released with Bristol based label and collective Cheese & Bread, this project reflects a culmination of hard work displayed over the past 12 months, in which Jay has collaborated across the UK, travelled and filmed in Europe and led a special BBC Radio 1xtra take over with DJ OH91 for Sian Anderson.

It Is What It Is is available now as a pay what you like download on Bandcamp
