Arnolfini chief exec departs

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Oct 5, 2016

Kate Brindley has announced that she will leave the Arnolfini after less than two years in charge of the Bristol arts organisation.

Brindley was appointed director of the Arnolfini in November 2014, having been named interim director in February 2014, and during her time at the helm the gallery was nominated as a finalist for Museum of the Year earlier this year.

Responsible for bringing Banksy’s exhibition to the city during her time as director of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives, Brindley will leave the Arnolfini in the new year to take up a new role as director of collections and exhibitions at Chatsworth in Derbyshire.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Brindley said: “Leading Arnolfini’s transformation and reinvention during such challenging times has been a privilege.

“Contributing to the historic and contemporary relevance of Arnolfini and the city of Bristol, nationally and internationally has been immensely inspiring and rewarding.”

Current director of audience engagement, Helen Davies, will now serve as interim CEO.
