Worker-owned cooperative set up by former Zedify employees
With the news of Zedify going into administration, a group of former employees have decided to start their own cargo bike delivery company with a difference.
Pedal Collective promises to be a non-profit worker-owned cooperative “focused on local clients, fair working conditions and long-term social sustainability”.
“Our aim is to build a resilient and community-focused alternative that prioritises people over profit,” a Pedal Collective spokesperson told Bristol24/7.
“This shift raises questions about the challenges of ethical employment in last-mile delivery, the viability of cooperative models in a competitive sector and how Bristol can maintain a sustainable locally-grounded logistics network.”

The Pedal Collective spokesperson said that in recent years, Zedify shifted towards a nationwide model, prioritising large clients such as Evri and HelloFresh “with little focus on local businesses which make Bristol great”.
He said: “In contrast, our work with businesses such as Wogan Coffee, Roots Floral Designs, Crack magazine and Double Puc among others has shown us that Bristol has a strong local business community.
“We want to prioritise this spirit and reinforce our commitment to social sustainability; values that we feel have been neglected recently.”
