Brislington business director cycles to raise funds for charity
The managing director of a South Bristol-based facilities management firm has cycled across north Scotland to raise vital funds for charity.
Brady Savage-George, the managing director of Almeda Facilities Ltd, followed the North Coast 500, a 516-mile route that took him along the Northern Highlands.
Over a four day period, Savage-George ultimately cycled 410 miles and climbed 27,000 ft.
He raised £8,000 in funds for the Bike Network – an organisation that provides free bicycles and cycling equipment to people affected by cancer across the UK.
“This challenge was about more than just physical endurance – it was a ride to empower individuals during the most challenging fight of their lives.”
Endurance sports are not alien to Savage-George, who is currently gearing up for the upcoming Ironman triathlon in Copenhagen on August 18.
But still Savage-George said the cycling trek was demanding: “This challenge was about more than just physical endurance – it was a ride to empower individuals during the most challenging fight of their lives.
“Cancer unfortunately impacts one in two people across their lifetime, and I am proud to be doing whatever I can, even in a small way, to help.
“My emotions on completing the task were elation and exhaustion and it helped to have a great team of people completing the ride with me too. The elements threw everything at us – wind, rain, sun, you name it, and there was a bad storm on the final day.”
In preparation for the challenge, Savage-George received a helping hand from Adam Walker, who is a record-breaking open water marathon swimmer.
2024 marked the best year trading for Almeda since it was founded in 1981 by Savage-George’s father, Gary. The family-run firm surpassed its previous record year and signed off its latest accounts with turnover of around £7.3m.
Almeda works with businesses across multiple sectors.
