Bristol brothers’ quest to transform removals industry
Two Bristol brothers are aiming to transform a sector widely criticised for “hidden costs and subpar services”.
Ethan and Lucas Jury launched Buff Removals with a single van and ambitions for steady growth built on positive customer experiences.
With the government’s pledge to build 1.5m homes by 2029 and stricter waste regulations, the demand for removal services is at an all-time high.
Not yet social media-savvy, but the brothers believe that their “work will speak for itself”.

Ethan and Lucas Jury “spotted a gap” in the market for trustworthy removals firms people could rely on
Ethan, 22, who grew up in north Bristol with his younger brother, began honing his entrepreneurial skills from an early age – at just 15 through labouring, an early lesson in hard work and teamwork, he admits.
After studying geography at UWE Bristol and working in marketing, Ethan discovered his métier lies in entrepreneurship and building connections with people.
The idea for Buff Removals came about when a friend endured a disastrous moving day, with furniture being badly damaged.
Around the same time, builders left waste from a home extension, which Ethan cleared using his tiny Ford KA.
That was the moment he spotted a gap in the market for trustworthy removals firms people could rely on, especially at a time when they are distressed.
The company also champions responsible disposal, helping tackle the rise of fly-tipping by prioritising recycling and reducing landfill waste.

Ethan added: “Most people absolutely dread a moving day, but it doesn’t have to be a nightmare.
“With the right team, a bit of humour and some muscles, we turn a stressful day into something you can enjoy.
“Beyond that, we want to inspire the next generation that success isn’t about flashy things or overnight fame; you can build a proper, honest business that can really make a difference in your local area.”
