‘Bristol businesses are swapping whiteboards for woodland team days’
A Bristol social enterprise is inviting businesses to swap the boardroom for the rejuvenating power of woodlands to strengthen staff wellbeing while supporting young people across the city.
The Birch Collective, a Bristol-based organisation and Bristol 24/7 Community Partner, runs nature-based programmes supporting young people reconnect with nature, build practical skills and find an uplifting community.
The organisation is now inviting local businesses to take part in Corporate Nature Team Days held in woodlands at Troopers Hill to help break people out of routine thinking, strengthen relationships across the team, and improve wellbeing and morale.
Instead of traditional team-building activities, groups spend the day outdoors creating wildlife habitat, managing woodland and preparing traditional craft materials.

Working outdoors, side by side, enables teams to slow down, communicate differently and reconnect away from the pressures of the workplace.
Studies have shown that time spent in nature can reduce stress and improve wellbeing – something organisations are increasingly recognising as part of a healthy workplace culture.
“When teams spend a day working together outdoors, something shifts,” says Birch co-founder Tim George.
“People talk more openly, collaborate differently, and often leave feeling more connected.”

For businesses, the days offer a way to combine team bonding, staff wellbeing and CSR contribution in a single experience.
The impact extends beyond the team itself.
Income from the corporate days will sustain Birch’s year-round programmes supporting vulnerable people in Bristol who are experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and barriers to opportunity.
Last year, the organisation worked with over 300 participants alone through programmes such as Fresh Air Thursdays and ReCoupe, which take place in a community garden and woodland in East Bristol.
The Birch Collective recently secured £270,000 of National Lottery funding over three years, helping to strengthen the organisation’s long-term work with young people.
