Enjoy a Summer of Free-Range Family Fun
If you’re looking for a free-range, family day out, heading West might be just the ticket this summer. Greenmeadow Community Farm, the visitor destination near Newport, is only a short drive down the M4, but transports you into the wholesome world of a Welsh, working farm and a full day of fun.

The 120-acre farm re-opened following an extensive transformation in September last year, with an extended and upgraded Farmhouse restaurant, new indoor and outdoor Adventure Play areas, and new animal experiences.
The site is home to 20 species of animals, including native and rare breeds from pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys, cows and sheep to Alpaca, tortoises and ferrets. Animal lovers can get up close to smaller residents in Cuddle Corner, meet the cheekiest residents in the walk-through goat enclosure, and learn about animals, with milking demonstrations, and animal tea-times. There’s also chicken and giant rabbit walk-throughs, the new Animal Barn to visit and animals to pet in the paddocks.

The summer programme brings even more experiences to the farm, with weekly changing themes meaning there’s something for everyone. Falconry UK are swooping in for displays (18, 19, 20 August), Jitterbug’s Children Circus are clowning around with free play drop-in sessions, and paid shows (11, 12, 13 August) and there’s mythical adventures down in the Dell with free Storytime sessions (4,5,6 August).
The Farmhouse, home to the Farmer’s Table restaurant, was one of the spaces transformed during the farm’s closure. With a large, airy conservatory, the fully-licenced restaurant serves homemade, quality food, with plenty of locally-sourced ingredients.

Greenmeadow Community Farm is a day out with something for everyone. The farm is taking part in the summer saver initiative, and for the summer season only, Adult ticket prices are from £9.63 and children from £6.56. Open 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week through holidays, Tuesday to Sunday during term-time.
