Donate instruments for refugees, Colston Hall

By Bristol24/7  Monday Sep 21, 2015

Colston Hall is calling on people to dust off their old instruments and donate them to the Calais refugee camp.

Music Against Borders has opened a donation point at the venue for unwanted or unused instruments to distribute at the swelling camp known as The Jungle.

Instruments can be dropped off at the Colston Hall box office between 10am-6pm until October 16.

Music Against Borders, an international charity which aims to unite communities separated through war, will provide a space for workshop sessions and unstructured jams at The Jungle.

They are particularly looking for drums of the djembe and doumbek type, ukuleles and childrens’ instruments, alongside any instruments from Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia.

However, all instruments will be utilised through teachers that will be putting on a variety of workshops over the coming months.

The instruments will also be used to support the initiation of a migrant’s orchestra project, a cultural musical exchange with musicians from within the UK.

You can donate to Music Without Borders here.
