Twice named as ‘Best Group’ at the BBC Radio Folk Awards, The Young’uns are renowned for their expertly crafted original songs and beguiling interpretations of traditional songs. With close harmony front and centre in their sound, they often perform a cappella, or with very subtle instrumental accompaniment. They switch seamlessly between profoundly poignant songs to infectiously irreverent humour, delivering songs of conscience with warmth and wit.
The Young ‘Uns are a trio of singers from the North East of England with a passion for storytelling and commitment to maintaining the tradition of social commentary through song. They have been performing together for over a decade, during which time they have released three albums and appeared at folk festivals around the country. They have twice won Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (2015 and 2016), as well as Best Group in the FATEA Awards 2014 and Best Live Act in the Spiral Awards 2015.
