Posing as a woman who has recently converted to Islam, undercover jourmalist Amy Whittaker (Valene Kane) makes contact through Facebook with ISIS recruiter Bilel (Shazad Latif). Unfortunately, over time she begins to develop feelings for him.
Based on French journalist Anna Erelle‘s non-fiction book In the Skin of a Jihadist, this thriller from Russian director Timur Bekmambetov (best known for Night Watch, Day Watch and, er, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is yet another of those cheapo films told entirely through a computer screen. Reviews have been lukewarm, with some critics struggling with the storyline. Or, as the Rotten Tomatoes consensus puts it: “Profile‘s unique narrative gimmick is enough to carry the film partway, but it’s ultimately overwhelmed by an increasingly ludicrous plot.”
