It’s becoming a bit of a habit this, isn’t it? As soon as a studio realises it has a hit franchise on its hands, the temptation is to milk it for all it’s worth (er, I mean, honour the richness and complexity of the source novels) by stretching it out to breaking point.
Twilight was the previous one to get the two-part finale treatment, while Peter Jackson somehow managed to get three long films out of Tolkien’s slim The Hobbit. So its was inevitalbe that the concluding part of Suzanne Collins‘ ‘young adult’ trilogy has been carved in two. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is the reluctant leader of lots of other people with silly names who are revolting against the Capitol. How does it all end? You’ll have to watch part two to find out.
