It’s insecty superhero overload in this month’s Marvel flick. A sequel to the hit 2015 Ant-Man, with the action unfolding between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, this one continues the Honey, I Shrunk the Superheroes theme by having little Anty/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lily) set an urgent new mission by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).
Having learned its lesson about diversity – or, if you want to be cynical about it (and who doesn’t?) – the potential profits to be reaped from diversity with Black Panther, Marvel makes this very much Wasp’s story. While bug boy continues to whinge about his work/life balance, she fully embraces the superheroics and wisecracking.
