Right, for obvious reasons there’s no actual Glastonbury Festival this year. So instead of being stuck in mud for days on end enduring tenth-rate indie acts in the lashing horizontal rain, you now have the opportunity to savour the experience in a more comfortable multiplex environment, condensed into five hours. And it’ll only cost you circa twenty quid.
The official blurb tells us that the programme comprises music streamed live from Worthy Farm’s many fields, including the Pyramid Stage and stone circle. Acts performing include Bristol’s very own Idles, who’ll be providing the token rock’n’roll excitement. There’s also the somewhat less pulse-quickening likes of Coldplay, Damon Albarn, HAIM, Wolf Alice, Jorja Smith, Kano, Michael Kiwanuka and undisclosed Surprise Guests. What’s more, it says here that “the ground-breaking extravaganza will be interspersed by a spoken-word narrative, written and delivered by some very special guests, guiding viewers on a journey through the sacred valley in Somerset.” They probably won’t be selling embarrassing headgear or dodgy drugs in the foyer, so you might want to take your own.
