After her alcoholic mum dies in a car accident, 17-year-old Ida (Sandra Guldberg Kampp) is sent to live with her divorced aunt Bodil (Sidse Babett Knudsen). At first, her new family seems friendly and welcoming, but it soon becomes clear that nice auntie Bodil is the ruthless matriarch of a clan of criminals who specialise in loan sharking. Will Ida sink or swim?

“This has the makings of a big hit,” reckoned The Guardian of this Animal Kingdom-esque Danish thriller, which should appeal to anyone with a taste for Nordic Noir. Indeed, debuting feature director Jeanette Nordahl has worked on episodes of Borgen.
