First-time writer/director Elizabeth Chomko‘s low-key, heartfelt, semi-autobiographical family drama certainly boasts the ring of truth and a great cast.
Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon play the adult children of Blythe Danner, who are brought back together by the urgent need to address her rapid descent into Alzheimer’s. Matters are complicated by their father (Robert Forster): a gruff, former military man, who’s in denial about his wife’s worsening condition. It’s very well played, with a light touch of humour, if rather predictable.
