Fall River, Massachusetts, 1892. Lizzie Borden (Chloë Sevigny) is something of a social outcast with a cruel and domineering if wealthy father. Enter hot young maidservant Bridget Sullivan (Kristen Stewart), who becomes a kindred spirit. As their romance blossoms, the two young women hatch a murderous plot.

This pschological thriller serves up a feminist ‘reimagining’ of the notorious late 19th century slayings in which young Lizzie famously took an axe to her family. If you’re shamefully attracted to this for all the wrong reasons, be warned that it’s a rather restrained arthouse affair rather than a saucy exploitation flick.
