American-Korean guy Eli (director Justin Chon) runs a women’s shoe store with his brother Daniel (David So) and the siblings form an unlikely friendship with young African-American girl Kamilla (Simone Baker) as they struggle to keep the business going.
Then the Rodney King verdict is annoucned and all hell breaks out in writer/director/star Chon’s well-recieved drama, which puts a fresh spin on the LA riots – partly as a consequence of having no white characters.
