Nonagenarian Belgian-born French director Agnès Varda‘s first theatrical feature since The Beaches of Agnes a decade ago is a collaboration with J.R. (not that one – he’s a photographer and muralist).
Together, the duo trundle round villages and small towns in rural France creating portraits of the people they encounter and forming a firm friendship along the way. Faces Places was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards earlier this year, making Varda the oldest person ever to be nominated for a non-honorary Oscar.
