Haing bagged the Berlinale Golden Bear with Black Coal, Thin Ice, Chinese director Yi’nan Diao returns with this hyperstylised modern noir.

Set in the grimy underbelly of Wuhan, it’s the tale of crime boss on the lam Zhou (Hu Gee) who encounters and falls for ‘bathing beauty’ sex worker Liu (Lun-Mei Kwei). Trouble is, she works for Zhou’s boss and her intentions are not exactly clear.
