An adaptation of the fourth Millennium book – and the first not to be written by the late Stieg Larsson – this is billed as “a new Dragon Tattoo story”. That’s another way of saying it’s a reboot of the US remake.
Gone are Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig as hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist. In their place are The Crown star Claire Foy (who can also be seen in First Man) and Sverrir Gudnason, who played Björn Borg in Borg vs McEnroe. The director is Fede Alvarez, who gave us that splendid horror flick Don’t Breathe. Watch out for Bristol’s very own Stephen Merchant as computer scientist Frans Balder, who’s targeted by a criminal organisation calling itself the Spider Society.
