Bristol24/7 Student Guide 2020: Coffee shops

By Morwenna Bugg  Tuesday Aug 18, 2020

Whether you’re looking for a boost to get you through an essay, a cosy spot to sit and meet a friend, or a slice of cake to celebrate your family coming to visit, the coffee shops in Bristol have it all.

Wherever you choose to go alternative milk options will be available. Just don’t forget your reusable cup if you haven’t got time to stop.

Boston Tea Party
Local chain of ethical cafes, no matter which university you go to, you’ll never be far away with locations in Stokes Croft, Clifton, Gloucester Road and Park Street.

Boston Tea Party banned single use coffee cups in 2018, which has prevented thousands of cups from going to waste. As well as amazing coffee, there’s always something on the menu to satisfy whatever you’re craving.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Little Victories
Espresso by day; craft beer, cocktails and organic wine by night. A light, bright and calm space to bring your laptop, friends or date for a speciality coffee.

Alongside their plethora of coffee options, try their toasted banana bread, cinnamon bun slice, and toasted sandwiches. If coffee isn’t your thing, their homemade iced tea is the perfect alternative.

Society Cafe
For a waterfront flat white. There’s a variety of coffee options, with tasting notes if that’s your thing, to enjoy either indoors, in the spacious seating area, or outside with views of the harbour.

Albatross Cafe
One for the ‘gram. It is, in one word, aesthetic. Beautiful pottery, speciality coffee (or cocktails in the evening), delicious cakes and a small seasonal brunch menu.

Ahh Toots
For the cake lovers. You won’t have seen such a beautiful display of edible treats.

Spicer+Cole
Artisan coffee and loose-leaf tea in four locations across the city. Your caffeine fix will be both delicious and ethically sourced.

Emmeline Cafe at Spike Island
Coffee and art in one place. Enjoy quality coffee and fresh food made with local produce. Serves outstanding grilled sandwiches.

Mark’s Bread
The place to go for toast. Cafe and bakery combined. Perfect for coffee, bread and cake.

Tincan Coffee Co
Coffee, baked goods and a simple brunch menu. It has everything you need.

Bakers and Co.
Coffee with a side of brunch.

Hart’s Bakery
For the bread lovers. Situated next to Temple Meads – perfect for top quality coffee and pastries on the go.
