What’s happening with Better Bristol? – July 2020

By Caitlin Bowring  Friday Jul 10, 2020

In March this year the city we love went into lockdown and shortly afterwards we had to make the tough decision to temporarily stop printing our free monthly magazine.

The news shifted suddenly, and we realised that now was the time to focus more than ever on our commitment to tell stories from all areas of Bristol.

Thanks to a surge in support from our readers in May (more than 100 of you became paid members in one month – thank you so much!), plus some external funding, we were able to recruit five Community Reporters for an exciting new pilot project.

Keep our city's journalism independent. Become a supporter member today.

The reporters are based in areas that have traditionally received less media coverage, and their brief is to share hyper-local news from their home turf.

They are all receiving mentoring and support from our team – check out some of their published stories below.

This is a pilot project and we’re hoping to receive further funding and membership support so that we can expand the project to cover hyper-local news from all areas of the city.
