My Bristol Favourites: Ollie Price

By Cicely Marks  Saturday Mar 25, 2023

Ollie Price is a right arm off spin bowler and right-handed batsman at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, whose new season starts in April.

Born in Oxford, the 22-year-old all-rounder has mainly been based in Bristol since signing with the team four years ago.

Ollie studies French and Spanish at the University of Durham and has spent the last winter coaching cricket in Argentina.

These are Ollie’s top-five Bristol favourites:

The Alma Tavern

“If we want to head for a drink after training, we’ll always go to the Alma Tavern. It’s local to us and it’s just a really nice place to go and play some cards and relax. It may be in Clifton, but it feels slightly off the beaten track too.”

Cooshti

Cooshti on Park Street is becoming increasingly popular in the changing rooms. Every time someone has bought a new t-shirt or new jumper, you know that it has likely been bought from there.”

Ashton Court Estate

“If we’re going to go to a park, realistically, we’re going to Ashton Court. In fact, we go quite often. There are two nine-hole golf courses. You’re supposed to pay but you can often just walk on in the evening.”

Burra

Burra is a staple among locals – photo: Cicely Marks

“A couple of the Bristol Bears guys opened this place. They’ve got another location now on Gloucester Road but I always visit the original Burra in Redland. Really good coffee and the best breakfast. I order something based around poached eggs and avocado toast on sourdough bread. It’s a simple order but it’s done very well.”

King Street

King Street is among Ollie Price’s favourite spots in Bristol – photo: Cicely Marks

“If we’ve won, or lost, this is a popular place to go and have a few beers. Often there’s live music on during the evenings. I only really discovered the street last summer. We’d usually always stay in Clifton and go to the White Lion if it was a sunny day, but King Street is definitely far better.”
