My Bristol Favourites: Nat Oaks
Nat Oaks is a hip-hop singer-songwriter, who was recently named on Youth Music’s Ones to Watch 2025 list after being nominated for the Rising Star Awards at 2024’s Youth Music Awards.
Nat was born in Ghana and moved to Bristol for university, since then immersing herself in the hip-hop and underground music scene.
These are Nat’s top-five Bristol favourites:
The Gallimaufry

“The Gallimaufry on Gloucester Road is a haven of everything I love about Bristol – great music (namely ‘Family Business’ every Sunday night), great pints and a very cool clientele. I hear the stories of locals each time I go to the Galli. And, I must admit, it’s my guilty pleasure go-to spot for a date night. No regrets.”
The Apple

“I might as well work here from how much time I spend at the Apple on Welsh Back. The best staff, warming outdoor heaters and every type of cider one could wish for. My favourite recent memory was watching the Euros here in the summer while drinking way too many Old Bristolians and watching feral King Street-goers cause a ruckus.”
St Werburgh’s City Farm

“St Werburgh’s City farm itself is great to visit if you need your nature fix. If you’re lucky enough to visit the area on a Sunday, make sure to grab a roast from the Farm pub across the road before they run out. The Yorkshire puds are beautiful.”
Crofters Rights

“The sticky floors at Crofters Rights on Stokes Croft have seen me in all different states, both as a performer and on a night out. The toilet refurbishments were perhaps the most important thing to happen in my lifetime. The venue itself does a great job promoting local acts across genres so there’s always something going on.”
Mocha Mocha

“Their magnificent baguettes, breakfast baps and flat whites kept me going for three years straight while I was at Bristol Uni. These guys single-handedly carried my degree. I wouldn’t have got that 2:1 without you. Long live Mocha Mocha on St Michael’s Hill and your other-worldly flat whites.”
