Two GP practices announce merger plans

By Charlie Watts  Wednesday Aug 30, 2023

Two GP practices in south Bristol have announced they have decided to merge.

Crest Family Practice and Merrywood Practice have until now operated as separate practices at the William Budd Health Centre in Knowle West Health Park on Downton Road.

In a statement shared on both their social media pages, the practices said: “Following lengthy discussions Crest Family Practice and Merrywood Practice have decided to merge.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“We believe that this move to being one united practice in the health centre is for the benefit of all our patients and staff.”

There will also be some drop-in consultation meetings where partners from both practices will be available to answer any questions patients may have.

These are taking place in the community room at the centre on:

  • Wednesday September 6, 5pm – 6pm
  • Thursday September 7, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
  • Monday September 11, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
  • Thursday September 12, 5pm – 6pm

The practices plan to merge from January 2024, with them consulting with staff and patients regarding the name of the new practice.
