Founded in 1972, St Paul’s Advice Centre provides free, specialist and confidential advice on welfare, debt and immigration to people across east Bristol.
They have supported thousands in the area over the past 53 years, including people arrested during the St Paul’s uprising in 1980.
Between 2023 and 2024 the centre provided support to around 870 people, over half of which were from Ashley or Lawrence Hill.
On the relocation, Rob France, the executive director of St Paul’s Advice Centre, said: “Given the supportive role we’ve played for generations of people in our former neighbourhood, this was not a decision we took lightly at all.
“While we’re now more accessible to east Bristol, we’re adamant on maintaining strong ties to the St Pauls community.”
He added: “Demand for our service is rising every year. It’s essential we can still meet it, in a
comfortable, safe, and spacious venue.”
