Protest held against Trump’s state visit to UK
A few dozen people gathered by the Cascade Steps to protest against Donald Trump’s current visit to the UK.
It is the US president’s second state visit which has seen him welcomed with an unprecedented display of pomp and pageantry.
But he has been kept away from the public, with a major protest taking place in London and a smaller one happening in Bristol.

The small protest next to the Cascade Steps on Wednesday evening was organised by members of Stop the War Coalition and Stand Up To Racism.
There were also several Palestine flags being flown by protesters.

One speaker said: “Trump is one of the main instigators and supporters of what’s happening in Gaza and he is now over here, gloating with the royal family.
“The only thing we can think is positive is that they had to have their little march around a park in Windsor because they were too scared to come out on the streets.
“And even then we still made them look really foolish by getting the projections up on Windsor Castle.”

The results of a recent opinion poll show that almost half of Britons say it was wrong to issue the invitation to Trump and only a quarter think it will improve UK-US relations
The YouGov/Sky figures showed that 45 per cent of Britons think it was wrong to invite Trump to come for a second state visit, compared to 30 per cent who thought it was the right move.
