Pecha Kucha Night returns with fresh line-up of creative voices
PechaKucha Night is set to return to Bristol this June, following its widely celebrated comeback last autumn and the follow up event in February.
Hosted once again at Strange Brew on Fairfax Street, this latest edition brings with it a new theme – ‘ALMOST’ – and a fresh line-up of eight creative speakers, each ready to deliver fast-paced, thought-provoking presentations.
Originating in Tokyo in 2003, PechaKucha – which translates to “chit-chat” in Japanese – is a globally adopted format that encourages succinct storytelling.

Each speaker presents 20 slides for 20 seconds each, resulting in a concise 6-minute and 40-second talk. This format allows for engaging, energetic talks that get straight to the point, making it a favourite in creative and professional circles alike.
The upcoming Bristol edition promises a vibrant mix of topics, interpreted through the lens of the theme ‘ALMOST’ – a prompt that invites curiosity, near misses, transitions and ideas in progress.
The list of speakers are:
- Ying Liu – Potter
- Penfold – Artist
- Dr Vicky Brophy – co-founder and head of Production at WONKY
- Michael Drummond – photographer and storyteller
- Marta Zubieta – artist, illustrator and muralist
- Masaru Mizuochi – media artist
- Beatrice Menis – branding & packaging designer
- Nick Hand – letterpress printer and cyclist
