Palestine Action protesters block entrance to defence firm

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Jul 2, 2025

Two protesters from Palestine Action were arrested after blocking the entrance of an arms company in Bristol.

The 30-year-old woman and 36-year-old man were arrested following their protest at Elbit Systems in Aztec West which saw them douse the entrance in red paint “to symbolise Palestinian bloodshed”.

A Palestine Action spokesperson said the protest on Tuesday was “successfully disrupting business-as-usual at Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer”.

It comes as the Terrorism Act could be altered and a new law approved as early as Friday to include Palestine Action as a proscribed organisation.

If approved, it would become a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison to be a member of the direct action group or to support it.

A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “While the government is rushing through Parliament absurd legislation to proscribe Palestine Action, the real terrorism is being committed in Gaza.

“These daily atrocities are ones in which Elbit Systems is an active participant.”

Palestine Action members believe that direct action is necessary “in the face of Israel’s ongoing crimes against humanity of genocide, apartheid and occupation, and to end British facilitation of those crimes”.

The group has repeatedly targeted Elbit Systems’ headquarters in Aztec West since the facility open in 2021, with a police officer hospitalised during an attack in August 2024.
