New podcast series covers Bristol themes from politics to pirates

By Martin Booth  Monday Dec 7, 2020

From politics to pirates, a new series of podcasts promises to cover a wide variety of Bristol subjects.

Tangent Calling has so far included everything from an interview with Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood to an exploration of some of Bristol’s most famous ghosts.

The podcasts are from the people behind Tangent Books, Bristol’s longest-established publisher.

The aim is that the podcasts, also available as YouTube videos, will promote website sales and act as a marketing tool for new releases from the Paintworks-based business.

Tangent’s Richard Jones said: “Tangent Calling is a really exciting development, taking content from books and using it in a different form creates a digital archive based on our many books covering a wide variety of subjects – all linked to Bristol.

Forthcoming podcasts include author Jane Duffus talking about her Women Who Built Bristol books, as well as more on Bristol music, street art and politics.

Recent Tangent titles include After The Revolution by Bristol councillor Clive Stevens, Slavery and Bristol by GM Best and the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 13.
