New community hub opens

By Charlie Watts  Friday Jun 24, 2022

A new community hub in south Bristol is now open for private hire.

The facility has been built as part of the redevelopment of Filwood Park, which connects Knowle West to Hengrove.

It can be hired by residents of the 150 houses which make up Barratt Homes’ development and local community groups.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The space includes a hall, kitchen, toilet and management office.

The redevelopment of Filwood Park also includes a new public park, which the hub has a wraparound view of.

But the park is smaller in size than before it was built on, and while it includes a children’s playground, there is no longer a skate park area.

The hub is managed by Pinnacle Property Management, who say it can be hired for the “promotion of recreational facilities for children and young people, the promotion of social and community cohesion and well-being, and the advancement of education and training of people of all ages.”

Available between the hours of 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, the building can be booked for a maximum of three hours and has a capacity of 25 people. It costs £10 an hour to hire for residents of Filwood Park and £20 for non-residents.

Until this year, Filwood Park could only be accessed via Hengrove.

But the entrance in Knowle West reopened in February, after being fenced off for more than four years while the green space was being developed.

A footpath runs into the site at the junction of Creswicke Road and Filwood Broadway, and a road is due to open next to it.

The park is also adjacent to Filwood Playing Fields, part of which could become the site of a new multi-use games area.

Bookings for the community hub can be made through Pinnacle Property Management by emailing [email protected]
