How’s this for a reaction when you discover live on air that you have just introduced the wrong guest:

Jon Kay, who lives in Bristol and is the West of England correspondent for BBC News when not presenting the breakfast show, was literally left open-mouthed after mistaking a US political expert for a heroic mountain climber.

Following a lengthy introduction to who he thought was Leslie Binns, who helped save a woman who had collapsed on a trek up Mount Everest, instead sitting on the red sofa was Dr Todd Landman from the University of Nottingham.

“I think you have the wrong guest, sir,” Landmann calmly told Kay.
