Graffiti removed from Cenotaph by Bristol Waste team

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jan 26, 2021

The day after it appeared, the graffiti that was daubed on the Cenotaph has been removed by a team from Bristol Waste.

The hi-vis team attended the Grade II-listed monument before daybreak on a wet and cold Tuesday morning.

They then proceeded to remove the writing that had been sprayed in red paint on a pair of the square blocks at each corner of the limestone memorial and on some of its stepped plinth.

At 8.28am, Bristol mayor Marvin Rees tweeted: “Sincere thanks to the team from  @BristolWaste for cleaning the graffiti off the cenotaph this morning.”
