Got a spare ?6m?

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Jul 9, 2015

It was originally designed in the mid-19th century by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as a hotel for travellers who were en route to America having journeyed from London on the Great Western Railway.

They would then embark on the ss Great Britain to continue their trip to New York.

Brunel House on St George’s Road off Park Street has had a variety of uses since then. It’s currently used as offices by Bristol City Council, with only Brunel’s original facade remaining since the days when it was a hotel.

The city council plans to move all of the functions currently in Brunel House to other offices once the refurbishment of City Hall is completed next year.

Brunel House is now on the market for £6 million.

Zoe Sharpe of JLL, who is handling the sale of the building for owners Royal London Asset Management, said: “Due to its flexible design in a very attractive setting and location, the building lends itself to a variety of possible future uses including hotel and residential, as well as offices.”

Bristol City Council has a lease at Brunel House which expires in August 2016 and is not directly affected by a change in freeholder.
