Giant pink glitter ball installed on King Street

By Robin Connolly  Tuesday Jul 20, 2021

In celebration of the much-anticipated final stages of businesses reopening, glittering handmade heart-shaped disco balls will be appearing throughout Bristol’s streets.

King Street has seen the first installation, with Corn Street, St Nicholas Street, the harbourside and Frogmore Street all due to follow.

The idea behind the spinning and sparkling orbs is to bring a sense of brightness and joy as the city embarks on its journey to a full recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

‘Love Songs To the City’ street banners are also being illuminated.

The campaign is being run as part of #LoveBristol, spearheaded by Bristol City Centre BID, which aims to support retail and hospitality sectors.

It is supported by Business West, the new Redcliffe and Temple BID, Cabot Circus and Broadmead BID, in partnership with the One City Economy Board and Bristol City Council.

Vicky Lee, head of Bristol City Centre BID, said: “Bristol is a city of music and culture with worldwide recognition for our amazing restaurants, bars and venues.

“The restrictions of the last 18 months have seen many of these businesses hardest hit and many are fully opening for the first time again this week. This latest addition to our #Love Bristol campaign sends a message of joy and togetherness

“Bristol has really embraced the #LoveBristol campaign, ensuring that we enjoy the city centre, whilst being respectful of each other and putting safety at the heart of everything we do.”

The instillations were made in Bristol and will placed in pedestrianised and low traffic areas throughout daytimes and evenings.
