Food charity urgently needs a temporary warehouse
A food charity is urgently seeking a temporary warehouse so it can continue providing nourishing meals to families in need during the busy holiday season.
For five years, FareShare South West operated from a rent-free warehouse in Ashton Gate, with generous support from Bristol Sport.
However, with the scheduled redevelopment of the stadium, the charity is appealing for any Bristol-based businesses or individuals who might know of a suitable space to reach out to them.
is needed now More than ever

FareShare South West needs a temporary warehouse to support its winter parcels project
“The joy and abundance we witness throughout the festive season can be particularly difficult for the many people whose reality is very different,” said the charity’s CEO, Lucy Bearn.
FareShare South West rescues good quality surplus food that would otherwise go to waste to fight poverty and empower communities. Each year, the charity teams up with Children’s Scrapstore, Unique Voice and Children’s Kitchen to pack parcels full of healthy staple foods, recipes, cooking utensils and craft kits for children in Bristol who would usually receive free school meals. This project is in addition to the charity’s usual operations and is supported by the Holiday Activity and Food programme as part of the wider Your Holiday Hub partnership.
Bearn continued: “For hundreds of families in Bristol, the school holidays mean no free school meals and a struggle just to put enough food on the table.
“Our winter parcels project acts as a lifeline to more than 1,000 families across Bristol. But more than this, it spreads joy, bringing a sense of occasion to families and communities.
“We are urgently appealing for temporary warehouse space in Bristol this November to enable us to run this special project that means so much to so many in our city and beyond.”
Reflecting on the charity’s support in the past, one recipient said it had “really helped” her family through the holiday season.
She added: “It really helped, you know, because of it being Christmas and everything and with money being so tight.
“I was able to spend the afternoon playing with my child instead of having to worry. And it was great because it saved me on shopping!”
An ideal space for the charity would be between 3,000 to 4,000 sq ft in size, have articulated lorry delivery access and parking available in a flat yard.
It should also be available from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, for four weeks in November.
