Far right protest turns violent
Clashes broke out in Bristol as a far right demonstration escorted by a heavy police presence made its way through the city centre.
The worst scuffles took place on Small Street where businesses were forced to shut on Saturday afternoon.
Some 20 people were protesting outside Bristol Crown Court to remember Kevin Crehan from Knowle, who died in prison in December last year after being sentenced to 12 months for racially aggravated public disorder after throwing bacon sandwiches at the Jamia Mosque in Totterdown.
Groups of anti-fascists attempted to break through the police barricade on Small Street, and then followed the far right demonstrators as they made their way up Corn Street, along High Street, across Baldwin Street and onto Welsh Back before arriving in Queen Square.

The most vocal counter-demonstrators – many of who were wearing masks, hoods and sunglasses – were gathered in the corner of Castle Park, but police dog handlers and officers on horseback prevented the two opposing groups getting close to each other.
