Deputy chief constable to take interim charge of Avon & Somerset Police

Sarah Crew began her policing career at Broadbury Road Police Station in Knowle West.

On Thursday, she is due to be appointed the temporary chief constable of Avon & Somerset Police while a replacement continues to be found for Andy Marsh.

Crew has a degree in classics from Oxford University and is currently the force’s deputy chief constable, having previously led Bristol CID.

“My drive for fairness and equality lies at the heart of my passion for policing,” she is quoted as saying on the Avon & Somerset Police website.

“I have always been determined to stand up for the underdog and against the bully, and policing seemed to me to offer the greatest opportunity to help people directly on a personal, practical and human level.”
