Co-op store reopens after major renovation

By Milan Perera  Thursday Mar 13, 2025

A Co-op store in south Bristol has reopened following a nine-week renovation aimed at enhancing its offerings.

The Co-op on Bishopsworth Road in Bedminster Down relaunched on Thursday with a series of improvements designed to transform the store.

The 2,000 sq ft store now boasts an expanded range of fresh produce, a Costa Coffee Express, food-to-go options, Fairtrade products, an in-store bakery and a selection of wines.

The store, which employs 16 staff members, will also serve as a Co-op fulfilment hub for the retailer’s quick-commerce service. Orders will be picked fresh in-store and delivered swiftly by Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

In addition, the store has extended its hours to 6am-11pm daily and operates as a parcel collection and returns hub for Amazon.

Energy-efficient refrigeration, soft plastic recycling services (allowing customers to recycle harder-to-recycle items such as bread liners, crisp packets, pet food pouches, and biscuit wrappers) and self-scan tills for quicker service have also been introduced.

The store bosses have said they takes pride in offering a full range of fresh British meat, including in ready meals, pies, and sandwiches, all of which are 100 per cent British.

Matthew Berryman, the store manager, said: “The whole team is thrilled to relaunch the Bedminster Down Co-op. We take pride in providing quality, choice, additional services, and value for everyone.

“We look forward to welcoming our members and customers back into our newly renovated store. We’re here to contribute to local life and to conveniently serve and support our community.”
