Bristol Walk Fest announces launch event details
A football player, an assistant coach and two local walking advocates will be sharing the stage on May 1 as they kick off Bristol Walk Fest 2025.
Since 2013, the walking festival has brought thousands of ramblers together to join hundreds of guided and self-guided walks and walking events across the city.
The 2025 Bristol Walk Fest will be no different, with over 200 walks on offer throughout the month of May, including a walk through an air raid shelter underneath St Nick’s Market.

This year, the festival’s launch event will feature a panel discussion at Arup, a design and engineering consultancy with an office on Victoria Street, between Bristol Rovers defender Taylor Moore and Bristol Rovers assistant coach Helen Cox alongside Claire Allen and Orla Hennessy.
Claire Allen, from Ashley Down, made headlines in 2024 for raising over £25,000 for homelessness by walking 4,000 miles around Britain’s coastline over the course of a year.
Orla Hennessy, from Brislington, founded Girls Who Walk Bristol in 2023, a community group who pride themselves on providing space for women to ‘make friends and get steps in’.
Karen Lloyd, the director of Bristol Walk Fest, said: “Bristol Walk Fest is a great chance to discover something new about the city, explore a new area, or try walking for the first time. With a choice of free walks every single day of the month, you’re bound to find something to pique your interest!”
The Bristol Walk Fest launch event will start at 7pm on May 1. Attendees are invited to join a pre-event walk, led by the Bristol Walking Alliance in collaboration with Bristol Ramblers, through central Bristol which will start and finish at Arup on Victoria Street.
